Sussex County Volunteer Firefighters Association Chaplain Jimmy Hoppa explained how Keynen had smelled the smoke and saw the fire, used the back of his hand on the door to check for hotness and went outside to the neighbors house and called 911 and explained the emergency.
He then went back to his house to make sure the rest of his family was at their assigned meeting place to wait for the Laurel FD. Between the schools and the Laurel FD teaching Fire Prevention it lead to this success that all escaped without injury. Keynen is a very smart young man who
payed attention and saved his family. Fire Prevention works great and saves lives.
