Tech Rescue Team Assists with Building Collapse - Dagsboro Fire District

At 15:54 Lt. Hudson reported a single vehicle into a residence at the above address. He also advised EOC to alert the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team due to the amount of structural damage to the residence. Engine 2 arrived under the command of Chief Glenn and advised as reported and established Armory Rd. IC. The crews from Engine 2 & the Rescue Co. began stabilization efforts until the arrival of the county team. With the arrival of the county team crews began efforts to shore up the 2nd flr. which had partially collapsed onto the vehicle, as it had taken out all the load bearing walls in the structure. After approx. 1 1/2 hrs. the residence was stable enough to remove the vehicle. Crews then added additional supports to help stabilize the 2nd flr. Crews operated for approx. 2 hrs. The Millsboro VFC transferred 1 Engine Co. to Dagsboro during the incident. The driver of the vehicle refused treatment and was taken into custody by DSP.
