On June 16th the Sussex Safe Kids Coalition held it's annual Safe Kids Event at Lowe's of Lewes. This is the tenth year that Lowe's has hosted the event that has taken place for over thirty years.
Sussex Fire Companies again proved to be a valuable partner in making the event a success. An estimated crowd of 800 people were present throughout the Day to receive information on safety, experience interactive displays and have fun.
This year a featured event was the Memorial Fire Co. conducting a free raffle of five bikes give per hour to children in attendance. Milton Fire Co. displayed their new Engine/Tanker. Millville had a display regarding water rescue. Forestry had units present to talk about camping safety. Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Indian River all had appartus on display and informational booths to speak to the citizens present.
Other partners included Beebe Medical Center, Nanticoke Health Services, Matthew Krug Foundation, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Sussex County EMS, Dept of Natural Resources, Delaware State Fire School, Sussex Emergency Operations and Dewey Beach Patrol.
